No matter which island you visit, you are sure to find something to please everyone in Hawaii. From its rich culture and historic sights to local arts and entertainment, adventure waits.
In Kauai, take a trip to the Kauai Museum or maybe a boat ride into the Fern Grotto. Known for its beautiful sights, many movies have been made here because of the surroundings. You can visit the Kilauea Lighthouse that was built in 1913. This site is also the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge where you can see Hawaii’s lovely and unique seabirds. You can travel the Napali Coast or visit Wailua Falls which plunge 80 feet. For a stunning view of deep valley gorges, travel to Waimea Canyon – nicknamed “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific.”
Over on Oahu which is known as the “Heart of Hawaii”, visit the wide range of popular sites of Waikiki. This is where you can find the North shore, Pearl Harbor and endless other attractions. Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, a volcanic crater, is flooded with water and is the site of the most popular snorkeling because of its clear blue waters and reefs full of the most colorful fish.
Head on over to Lanai City for a variety of tide pools and perfect beaches. It is on this island that you will find Dole Park, a grassy park with towering pine trees. On the northeast side of this island you will find Shipwreck Beach. The hull of the “Liberty Ship” from the 1940′s is still beached in Kaiolohia Bay and is a wonder to see.
In Maui you’ll find volcanic landscapes that will amaze you. Waimoku Falls is also here and for the adventurous type you can overlook the falls down 400 feet. For surfers, Honolua Bay is a favorite spot.
Hawaii’s Big Island offers the beautiful waters of Kealekekua Bay and an abundant amount of unique sights. At Hawaii Volcanoes National Park you can watch the landscape change before your eyes with one of the most active volcanoes on earth. Liliuokalani Gardens is a 30 acre Japanese garden built as a tribute to Hawaii’s first Japanese immigrants who worked the sugar cane fields.
If you visit the Big Island, be sure not to miss Punaluu Black Sand Beach, one of the most famous black sand beaches in Hawaii.
Away from the crowds there are plenty of things to do on the island of Molokai. Mule rides and tours of macadamia nut farms are just two suggestions. This island is away from the hustle and bustle of the other islands, making it the perfect getaway. There is beautiful scenery waiting to be viewed at Mooula Falls. To see it, you must travel with a guide, so some planning is required.
With so much paradise to see, the most difficult thing about a trip to the Hawaiian Islands is deciding which one to visit.
