Is an iPhone a vital travel accessory?

Browsing through the apps available for the iPhone at AppShopper.com, it’s clear that travelers would be well advised to keep an iPhone handy on their next trip.
There’s the obvious stuff in there, of course – phrase books for languages as varied as Portuguese, Japanese and Arabic, not all English – whatever either. For instance I came across a Spanish-Mandarin and Japanese-Mandarin as well.
One little app called “SitOrSquat” – which is free – aims to help you find the nearest bathroom when you need to go! The database of loos is growing fast, new locations being added by users all the time, and there’s a contest with a prize of $500 for the person who adds the most new entries by 22 December.
Other options include a nice little 4-in-1 conversion app called simply “Converters 1.0″ which handles currency, units like weight, clothing sizes and a tip converter, all in one app. There’s also a Paris museums guide, a New York food guide, and many more. Well worth a look, if you’re a traveler with an iphone.
