Flying Qantas? Double check before you leave

Qantas AirwaysThe latest twist in the story of Qantas Airways came after the announcement last Tuesday that six B737-400s would be removed from service while the airline cross-checks maintenance records, resulting in three flights being canceled.

Following this, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority announced on Wednesday that it would be expanding its investigation of Qantas maintenance records which it undertook after three separate incidents. The first, which was widely reported, occurred when an explosion tore a hole in the side of one of its planes, forcing an emergency landing at Manila. That was on July 25th. Two other flights have been forced to return to their departure airports, one because of a problem with the landing gear, and the other after traffic controllers witnessed fluid “streaming from a wing.”

Bearing all these things in mind, it would be wise to double check that your flight has not been canceled before you leave for the airport.
