If you’re traveling to or from New York you can make the beginning or end of your trip more memorable by taking a flight with US Helicopters, giving you the chance to view the breathtaking New York skyline from its best vantage point.
It’s not going to make your journey between the airport and the city any faster, most likely, because you have to travel to and from the terminuses, but it’s well worth considering just because of the view. If you decide to use the helicopter for your outward journey, make sure you leave enough time to get to your departure terminal in time for check-in.
US Helicopters runs 6 scheduled flights from Newark to downtown Manhattan a day, and seven the opposite way. There are 7 scheduled flights from JFK to downtown Manhattan, and eight back. There are also 6 scheduled flights in either direction between JFK and East 34th Street, and between Newark and East 34th Street, as well as other flights between Newark and JFK and one flight a day to Bridgeport, CT. It’s also possible to charter a flight.
For more details on flights, visit US Helicopters’ site.

When you’re planning a vacation to a destination that’s new to you, it helps if you can find out a bit about the place before you leave. And although you can find information on many different vacation destinations on our main site, it never hurts to add a new resource to the list.
I’ve just come across a new resource that I think will definitely add value when you’re planning your itinerary. It’s called There are Places World Travel Guides.
The site is well laid out and loads up quickly, even though there are plenty of attractive pictures of various places - even on the home page. Once there, you can select either by continent, and then click on through to the country, state and so on, or just choose from one of the most popular city or country destinations on the right hand side.
There are videos of many of the places described as well, so the site is well worth a visit, even if you’re just browsing.

The US National Park Service has just launched a new website for visitors with disabilities, under the name “National Parks: Accessible to Everyone” to help disabled visitors make the most of the facilities and activities at national parks. This is designed to supplement the accessibility information already provided on websites run by individual parks.
The new site gives information about sign language interpreters and which visitor centers have services for visually impaired park-goers, as well as detailed descriptions of trails and their surfaces, for visitors with mobility issues or who use wheelchairs.
